ORTHOPEDIC MANUAL THERAPY
Recognized as a specialty area by the American Physical Therapy Association in 1974, manual therapy consists of treatment techniques developed mainly in the Scandinavian countries, Britain, central Europe, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada, and is now part of standard physical therapy curricula in the United States. It involves the passive movement(mobilization) of the spinal and extremity joints, stretching of shortened muscles, stabilization of loose or hypermobile joints, and instruction in home exercise programs. In conjunction with traditional physical treatment modalities, manual therapy is especially effective in treating neck and back pain due to joint stiffness or disc pathologies, and restricted movement and pain in the extremity joints. Expertise in manual therapy requires years of clinical experience and study of joint and muscle biomechanics.
ASTYM
ASTYM is an advanced form of soft tissue mobilization which enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue. ASTYM is proven to be a highly effective treatment for chronic tendonitis/tendinosis. ASTYM is performed with ergonomically designed instruments to allow rapid localization and effective treatment of areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis, chronic inflammation, or degeneration.. Treatment is conducted in concert with a rehabilitation regimen designed to restore patients to their pre-injury level of activity. This is the treatment most effective for tennis/golfers elbow, shoulder tendonitis, Achilles tendonitis, Hamstring injuries, repetitive stress injuries, myofascial restrictions.

We specialize in exercise programs designed for each patient's individual problem. Only after a complete biomechanical evaluation will we design an exercise program specific to the patients dysfunction. Using elements of Pilates (appropriate for some syndromes but not for others), the latest in core stabililization training, specific postural exercises, and strength and conditioning, our goal is to maximize each individuals potential for fitness, function, and pain-free daily acitivies.
