Susan Freightman

Susan Freightman, M.P.T

An injury while training for a marathon brought Susan to her career in physical therapy. She strives to go beyond the obvious in collecting her patient's medical history and evaluating the important details necessary to formulate an appropriate treatment plan. However, her goal in the treatment for all her patients is the same: to work with each individual to find a path that engages them in their rehabilitation and design a treatment program to complement the individual and their lifestyle.

Susan was born and raised in the east bay. She received her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Samuel Merritt College in 2002 and then worked for Sutter Medical Center in both the inpatient and outpatient rehab departments. She moved to Portland Oregon for 2 years and worked in an outpatient orthopedic clinic that worked with the Oregon Ballet and a sports training center. She returned to the bay area and joined Albany Physical Therapy. She believes in an evidence based practice approach and has been a member of the American Physical Therapy Association since 1999. She continues to expand her professional knowledge and manual skills through continuing education courses.

Susan enjoys spending time with her husband and their two energetic young sons that keep her moving. When she’s not running after them she enjoys running on her own and challenging her mind and body with boot camp workouts. With her family she enjoys hiking, exploring nature and rediscovering all that the bay area has to offer.

Susan recently sat for and passed the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCSs) exam. CSCS are professionals who apply scientific knowledge to train athletes for the primary goal of improving athletic performance. This will only help to serve all of her clients more effectively.
