General Information About Our Fitness Program
Albany Physical Therapy has established a gym membership program for our patients who are interested in maintaining a Physical Therapist’s, or Personal Trainer’s, input and guidance for a regular fitness program.
As part of this program, one of our Physical Therapists, or Personal Trainer, will design an individualized exercise routine that will include some or all of the following:
- Cardiovascular / Endurance training
- Strength training using free weights and our Keiser Pneumatic equipment for building muscle mass, strength, endurance, and maintaining bone density
- Flexibility and stretching exercises, mat exercises, balance and agility training
- Core strengthening and stabilization utilizing Theraband, sportscord, medicine balls, styrofoam rollers and gymballs
Current and former patients will be instructed in the use of appropriate equipment and have exercise updates as needed.
For clients new to our facility, an orthopedic screening will be performed to identify postural problems, shortened or weak muscles, joint restrictions and hypermobility/instability.
We will then establish a program based on those findings and provide instruction in the use of our equipment. This environment will provide the opportunity for periodic monitoring and modifications of each member's program.
